Who we are
We believe that the true measure of a society is how it supports its most vulnerable. A strong and thriving charity sector, alongside a generous and giving community stand proudly at the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Since September 2014, The Funding Network NZ has raised $437k for 27 charities through live crowdfunding events. We have linked charities with pro-bono expertise and run capacity building workshops to support our alumni.
What we do
We support charities to tell their stories and raise funds both online and at in-person, live, crowdfunding events. These events also provide an exciting, innovative way for givers to engage with the real impact charities have.
Connection - Inspire and enable generosity: We connect generous Kiwis to the people who are leading change in our communities, facilitating engaged and meaningful giving.
Capacity - Strengthen grassroots changemakers: We connect grassroots change-making organisations with the people, tools and resources to generate flexible funds, which power up their ongoing capacity to thrive.
Generosity - Impactful in practice and in legacy: Our model of collective giving democratises philanthropy and helps to build an engaged community of givers
For charities
We develop the capacity of the charity sector in online fundraising by running one-month, light-touch programmes based around live, crowdfunding events. We help selected charities plan and deliver successful campaigns - as well as develop persuasive and compelling presentations - to raise money and unlock available match funding.
For givers
We work to grow generosity amongst the public. We do this by organising exciting live events (online and in-person) that connect our audience with the work of grassroots charities. This helps givers develop an understanding of the impact their donations have. Through building this relationship, we encourage thoughtful philanthropy and connect people with causes that they care about and can support through financial and pro-bono gifts.
“My highlight of the evening was seeing the recipients come back in and unveiling the total amounts of money raised. Their smiles and their relief at the realisation that they can carry on with their work was priceless.”
